Svadisthana, the Sacral Chakra:
Also known as Swadisthana, adhishthana, the splenic chakra, the orange creativity chakra, or the sexual chakra.
This chakra is about friendliness, creativity, sexuality, emotions and intuition on the gut level. It is influenced by how emotions were or repressed during childhood and it is the sexual center for women. It is located 1-2 inches below the navel along the spine, right above the root chakra, for that reason our kundalini from the root chakra flows up to the sacral chakra and onwards. This chakra’s colour is orange, its element is water, and its sense is taste. The musical note at which this chakra vibrates at is D.
The glands and organs influenced by this chakra include the skin, kidneys, mammary glands, ovaries, testicles, the prostate, and the spleen. Because of this association, when one continuously keeps this chakra imbalanced, they experiences illnesses such as kidney weakness, constipation, muscle cramps, lack of energy, allergies, repression and inhibition, and loss of weight.
When this chakra is well-balanced, one will be friendly, concerned for others, have a sense of belonging, be intuitive and clairsentient, generally have a good sense of humour, and radiate warmth and compassion.
When this chakra is over-active and contains excessive energy, one will be emotionally explosive, overly ambitious, manipulative, caught up in illusions, overindulgent, and their sexual energy will cause them to see people as sex objects.
One with deficient energy in the sacral chakra, (or, otherwise, a closed or blocked chakra), tends to be shy, timid, immobilized by fear, overly sensitive, self-negating, burdened by guilt (usually, but not solely, sexual guilt), their sexual energy will cause them to be clingy, they will be abused, frigid, or impotent.
Gems and minerals associated with the sacral chakra that can be used in stone meditation and for clearing blockades in the chakra are carnelian, coral and amber.
This chakra is a fun one to balance because doing so would involve expressing your creativity, dancing, moving your hips, laughing, or doing anything you find fun. Sex or sexual activity also stimulates this chakra momentarily. (However, not balancing your sexuality, meaning having too much sex, can over-stimulate this chakra, which we have already seen as not a good thing.) Aromatic bathing is also a very enjoyable way to explore sensuality and help with this chakra, especially before going to bed at night. Oils particularly associated with the sacral chakra include sandalwood, jasmine, rose, ylang-ylang, and champaca. Under a running bath, just add a maximum of 5mL of this essential oil (or a combination of) and relax. You can also light specific colour candles associated with this chakra and float flowers in the water as well to make it a solitary romantic experience.
The oils mentioned above can also be used in aromatherapy with a diffuser, or in the form of incense. It can also be used during meditation to help with the opening and balancing of this chakra.
Yoga positions associated with this chakra include parivrtta trikonasana (twisting triangle), utthia parsvakonasana (extended lateral angle pose), and natarajasana (pose of shiva).
When two people make love, the lights from their sex chakras are mixed. These lights then create figures, whose beauty also in this case depends on the love between the parties.
Two people, who really love each other, create a fantastic aura around them when making love - it can be compared to a forest of fairytale trees, whose flowers and leaves create an arc above the lovers, which have such powerful vibrations that a lot of negative karma can be burned away. (However, casual sex with “strangers” who have a lot of negative karma already can transfer their negativity to you and it can be seen as debris in your aura that will be hard to get rid of.)
In other words, by just loving another person and showing it by sexual behaviour which pleases and satisfies, one can develop very much personally and in the end thereby also spiritually.
